About Me

I am a twenty-something year old mother, teacher and runner-in-training. I have always been into sports and was very athletic in high school. As college came, I remained involved in club sports, but didn't really maintain the same level of fitness that I had throughout high school. I used to look at people who went to the gym and ran as crazy. Who would want to run that far and workout every day?! It wasn't for me. After college, I moved in with my boyfriend, who would soon be my fiance, and shortly after my husband.

Enjoying life as a newly married couple...

Life was great, but something was missing. In early fall of being newlyweds, my husband and I learned that were were going to be parents. This would begin a crazy journey for me, including one that would lead me to running. After a generally easy pregnancy, my husband and I were blessed to meet my daughter right before our first anniversary. Our lives changed for the better, but I quickly realized that I was having a hard time struggling with the stress of being a full-time working mother.

Our first family photo... excuse the look of exhaustion on my face!
When my daughter was around 6 months, I realized (with many gentle hints from my husband) that I needed to find something that I could do to help alleviate my stress and take some time for me. That's when I began to look up running. As I said before, I was never really a runner, but I thought why not give it a try. After Christmas, I made the decision to sign up for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon at Disney and am glad that I did.  Training and running has been such an amazing journey for me. Since deciding to sign up for my first half, I have now completed numerous 5K and 10K races.

Most recently, my husband and I welcomed twins into our family. My son and daughter were born in July and have been such a blessing to us. Although stressful, the twins have motivated me to continue to strive to be a better runner. I am currently signed up for three half marathons in 2014 and looking to run my first marathon in the fall.

Minutes old twins... my daughter is on the right and my son is on the left.
